Al Kass International Cup U-17 Tournament Praised by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al-Thani

Doha, 17th January 2012, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani, President of Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Qatar Stars League praised the organisers, players, fans and media for the highly successful  Al Kass U-17 Cup Tournament.

“Qatar which will host the 2022 FIFA world Cup is an ambitious and evolving nation. Qatar is also a very dedicated and patriotic Country, committed to “Our youth of today, our stars of tomorrow”.

Bringing the 2022 FIFA World Cup to Qatar is about so much more than ‘World Class Teams playing  World Class Football’ – For us it’s about starting a long lasting legacy which we will pass onto our future generations. In our children and grandchildren we see our future and that is where our focus lies.

2012, has been marked by another milestone achievement with the launch of the Al Kass International Cup u-17. Such tournament has not only become an additional asset to our football legacy in supporting and showcasing the football stars of the future, but it has also given other talents the chance to step up and shine. This year key media professions were highlighted and emphasised through a programme with Northwestern University in Qatar and actual roles of press reporters and photographers were awarded to outstanding students. This annual tournament will take pride in developing a broad spectrum of talent whilst encouraging Qatar’s youth to be passionate, enthusiastic and committed to their goals and achievements.

We are proud of Aspire teams’ participation within the tournament and also thankful to the teams who accepted the opportunity to come along and take part in the Cup. We hope that we have extended our football family and have made new friends with whom we shall grow and enjoy this journey together, who knows we may see some of the young men as national team players representing their countries in the 2022 World Cup.”
